New Urns!

Yes, I'm actually doing a piece on urns

now if your a regular reader you prolly remember me doing a piece on handrails not too long ago.

while the handrails were definitely a needed improvement, they really brought to my attention how lame the planters on either side of them are.

this was a bit frustrating due to the fact that the only reason i ever noticed that the handrails were lame was that we had just painted the exterior of the house - which leads me to the below richardism.
"you never really noticed how bad something looks until you fix up the stuff around it"

so basically i've been asking myself "where does it all end?" when it comes to this fix it up thing.

the obvious short term solution would be to just get some new urns, but my fear was that some other undesirable feature of the house might be brought to light.

quite a quandary if you ask me, so rather than blow a brain gasket over the whole thing, i just decided to get new urns.

as you can see, the new ones are much larger than the originals. in fact, they are sooo large that i think they scare the dog.

however, despite their size they seem to blend in with the overall height of the house quite well.

over time the ivy should get much "bushier" and the tree thingie in the middle much taller. (hey, i'm not landscape guy so cut me some slack on the lingo)

here is what they look like from far away, and other than the fact that robins like to relieve themselves on the new rails, i really cant see that these new urns accentuate how crappy something else looks - so perhaps the cycle has been broken. lets hope so
