all the tile removed you can see that before this fireplace was
converted into a horrid green coal burning stove back in the 40's,
it was just a arched brick fireplace. if the wood was removed the
brick would run all the way up the wall. kinda cool. |

| so after discovering
that there was about 7 inches of plaster behind the green tile we
decided that it was necessary to build a better platform for the
new tile to adhere to. this required the removal of the mantle (not
part of the original plan). our friend bradley helped us out with
this. |
