The 2008 Contest

After a year hiatus, I've decided to reinstate the oldest rv.com tradition... the Handturkey Contest. As in year's past, I will be collecting registered user handturkey drawings and posting them the week before Thanksgiving for everyone to vote on. The winner will receive a t-shirt with a picture of their submission on it, a dozen semi-organic eggs homemade eggs in classic styrofoam container, as well as gloating rights for the following year... or two if this thing wears me out again to the point it causes another hiatus.

Contest Rules

With this being the fifth actual time we've run the contest, I feel pretty good about the following set of rules. Still, I'm sure that there's a crack somewhere for you people to take advantage of.

all handturkey submissions must use the entry form (right click/save as for PDF / GIF entry form) submissions can be faxed, e-mailed or snail mailed deadline for submissions is Thursday, November 20th (one week prior to Thanksgiving) all submissions must include your username and password for verification (it's unbelievably sad that   I have to do this simply because some of you just can't behave) 10 RVPR points will be awarded to all successful submissions 20 additional RVPR points for 3rd place, 40 for 2nd, 75 for 1st anybody who hacks in and gives themselves 40,000 votes will have their registration revoked winners of the contest to be determined by a mathematical combination of the following   -number of page views   -average vote given   -number of comments left and/or caused   -style... to be determined solely by me

Why a handturkey contest?

I am left handed, which means all my "hand turkeys" are of the right-handed variety. This caused me much trauma back in the 2nd grade when everyone in the class drew their turkeys, cut them out, then posted them up on the board. Being the only lefty in Mrs. Tanner's class, my turkey faced the other way. So i had this huge decision to make, either put my "hand turkey" on the far right hand side of the board where all the other turkeys could stare at him; or put him on the far left hand side of the board and appear to the the loner turkey who is facing the wrong way. It was so unfair! But now, with the help of thousands of dollars worth of computer graphics equipment, i can finally have a turkey that faces the RIGHT way; and that is why you are 'required' to use MY hand as a submission form. Take that Mrs. Tanner!

aj - 11/17/2008 9:58:48 PM legally? any illegal submissions? question about the 10 points per submission. is there a limit on that?

rvining - 11/18/2008 9:51:21 AM no. but flood the market and you dilute your own chances for winning. furthermore, i do reserve the right not to allow a submission if i deem it one that didn't require any effort. so dont think you can enter 100 or so really lame designs.

aj - 11/18/2008 12:56:39 PM technically, you failed to mention a rule that limits the number of entrants, and even though you reserve the right to determine if the design is lame, that's really just a lamer excuse for not coming up with all the rules on the front end.
