| for
the past 3 years kc and i have decided that we would spend 100 bucks
on some stuff for the homeless here in memphis. the first year,
we just bought blankets, the second year we added loaves of bread...
but this year we really knocked the ball out of the park - we added
more funding and some chili! |

richard
and kristen - $100 |
sister jan -
$30 plus access to costco on her membership |
jim vining inc.
- $100 |
| |
| with this $230
dollars we were able to purchase 11 blankets, 30 lbs of high quality
stagg chili, 500 cups and lids (enough for several years to come),
napkins and spoons. now i was expecting the chili inside these 6
pound cans to be mostly soup... not the case at all. in fact, if
we could do it all over again we would have added just a little
water as so to make more servings available. as it was however,
we were able to scoop out 58 hearty servings. |

 |
| as soon as
the chili was done, we loaded it all up into the cooler
on wheels and put it into the bed of my truck along with the
blankets, my wife, sister, and dog. it was cold (24 degrees) but
beautiful this Christmas so i rode along in the back with the dog
as we headed downtown. |
| |
| our first stop
- right there by the greyhound station. about 15 guys came up when
i held up 2 cups and shouted "CHILI!!!!!". my only rule
was that you had to look me in the eye and tell me what day it was
(Christmas). from there we found people here and there... until
we hit the motherload - court square. there we gave away about 25
cups and ALL the blankets. |
