Distinctive Sounds

"It sounded like a freight train"

Like smells, sounds are interesting in that they tend to be associated with visual images. But what is even more interesting is when that image is wrong and the source of the sound is not what you thought. In those cases, one tends to announce it aloud to everyone in the area. While that's just human nature I guess, it can make for some awkward moments. So to help everybody out with this sensual conundrum, I have made a list of 99 distinctive sounds.
